Hali Hafeman to try for Olympic Skimo team

The Sōrse team is proud to cheer on our own Hali Hafeman as she competes to win a spot on the 2026 Olympic Skimo team! Go, Hali!

What is skimo?

Ski Mountaineering, or skimo, is a competitive winter sport in which athletes scale up a mountain and then ski down it as fast as possible. In 2021, the International Olympic Committee added three new skimo events to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics: Men’s Sprint, Women’s Sprint, and Mixed Gender Relay.

What’s at stake this weekend

Currently, the mixed relay is Team USA’s best chance at qualifying in skimo for the Games. There is just one race left for which Team USA can earn the qualifying points, and that is happening this weekend at the 2025 Skimo World Cup in Solitude, Utah. With the US just one point behind Canada, it comes down to this weekend: whoever finishes best in Solitude—US or Canada—will earn North America’s two quota spots.

In 2024, Hali took first in the Sprint and Vertical at the first World Cup Vertical in Andorra, and earlier this year, Hali won the Vertical and Mixed Relay races at the U.S. National Champions at Wasatch Powderkeg. We’re betting she can do it again!

As Hali always says, “Give my best me today. Keep fighting, and keep showing up”!
