HR 7024 could save the hemp industry: here’s how to support it

There is an update on hemp legislation in Washington, D.C., and this is your call to action.

This week, Rep. Jim Baird, Angie Craig, James Comer, Gabe Evans, Tim Moore, and 10 other cosponsors began circulating the bipartisan HR 7024, the Hemp Planting Predictability Act that would replace the current industry-killing 12-month hemp sunset with a 3-year extension.

This gives Congress and businesses like yours time to implement smart safeguards that ensure hemp products remain safe while preserving consumer choices and hundreds of thousands of jobs.

What you can do to support the hemp industry: call your rep

Here’s what you can do right now: call or email your representative and ask them to co-sponsor HR 7024, the Hemp Planting Predictability Act.

You can use this script:

“I respectfully urge you to co-sponsor HR 7024. Establishing sensible, effective regulation for hemp-derived products, which has proven to be complicated, requires time and careful consideration. This legislation ensures Congress has the opportunity to craft a regulatory framework that prioritizes public health and safe access.

As a stakeholder in the cannabis industry, I strongly support regulation of the hemp beverage category and the hemp industry. However, rushed or piecemeal approaches risk unintended consequences. HR 7024 creates the necessary space for Congress and stakeholders to work together on smart, durable policy.”
